How to upload a picture

It’s easy to upload picture and ad them to your posts.  Above the box where you input text in your post is the formatting bar. Just above that is a “Upload/Insert”.  Click on the icon to upload a picture. Select the file you want to upload and click okay. This uploads your picture to the Media Library but this does not put the image in your post.

After the file is uploaded add a “Title”, “Caption” and “Description”.  It’s important to add the title, caption and description so that once your image is in the Media Library we can find it again if we ever need it.  Use as many words as you need to describe what is in your picture.  At this point, you still haven’t added your image to the post.

At the bottom of the dialogue box where you enter a caption is a button that reads “Insert into Post”.  You have to click this button or the image will not display in the post. Instead, the image is just stored in the Media Library.

If you closed the window by accident you can always add the image anyway.  Just click on the Upload/Insert icon as before. Then don’t click “select file”. Instead click the tab that says Media Library. Search for or find your image. Click “Show” to see the image in a larger format. Then click “insert into post” and you can put the image in your post.

Play with the alignment buttons until you’re happy with the way things look.

Gallery

If you have multiple images, you can add a “gallery” of images.  Click on the Upload/Insert icon as before. Then don’t click “select file”. Instead click the tab that says “Gallery”.  Click on “show gallery”.  Note that the gallery won’t really show in your draft, but it will show to the public when you publish.  Click on View Post to check to see if you’ve done it the right way.
